Greatest Guitarists Of All Time

Rolling Stone published their list of all-time greats. As with any such list, you have to wonder what they were thinking with some choices (or what they were smoking, it is Rolling Stone dont'cha know). I'd be interested to know exactly what criteria they had in mind when they made their rankings.

I've been a huge Ramones fan since Rocket To Russia, but c'mon! Three-chord Johnny at #16 while Frank Zappa's at #45?!
And Lou Reed and Neil Young shouldn't be on the list at all. I'm a fan of both, but they're NOT impressive guitarists!

Yep, and where's George Benson and Al DeMeola? Joni Mitchell? C'mon...

Sorry, I was complaining that she was on the list, while leaving out others

Jack White doesn't deserve to be on there. And where the hell is Johnny Marr of The Smiths? Damn.

i think that the exclusion of g3 and malmsteen is very sad. i mean what about paul gilbert, john petrucci, vinnie moore, kenny wayne sheperd etc. These guys are the gods of the guitar. Jimi Hendrix just abuses the guitar.so i do hope that there will be a review thanks man

that list is real bullshit....hendrix should be at number one, i have no doubt about that, in fact i agree completely with the top four except for BB King who has been playing the same blues solos for about 40 years.........Jimmy Page should be number 5 at least and Eddie Van Halen and Randy Rhoads should at least break the top ten and their are also a lot of people that have no business on the countdown(such as Kurt Cobain, Johnny Ramone, Jack White, and Jerry Garcie even though i love him)
