Posted by Ted at November 24, 2004 06:05 AM | TrackBackFunny how these lists change over the years. I remember a similar list 'round 1980-81 where the #1 greatest song was "In The Still Of The Night" by the Five Satins. I mean, it's a decent song, but sheesh.
A 1989 list, eh? "I Heard It Through The Gr@pevine"** got a big boost in the late '80s from the singing raisins commercial, but nowadays it's not anyone's mind much anymore.
And, there was a time, back in the mid-'70s, you couldn't knock "Hey Jude" out of 1st place fer nothin'!
It's all a perpetual change, my friend. "Perpetual Change". Hmmm. A decent Yes tune, as I recall...
** Erm... My comment was declined at first because the word "Gr@pevine" contains the word "r@pe". Someone's been messin' with the MT Blacklist without knowing what they're doing again, dagnabbit!
