Two recipes at the top of my "to try" list

I'll probably make each of these within the next couple of weeks. Reportage to come.

First up, from Denita of Who Tends the Fires, this Cranberries with Orange and Ginger thingie sounds yummy. The kids and I have a serious jones for cranberry sauce. We eat it all year round.

Secondly, this combination of peanut butter and oatmeal cookies baked into a pie, courtesy of Triticale. Mmmmmm, pie.

Cranberries are like "the new black" of the season -- I have seen about four million recipes with them. And it's recommended to surround ourselves with fresh cranberries -- the scent is supposed to inspire weight loss. Woo hoo! Cranberries are supposed to dull muscle fatigue so that we will want to exercise more. I'm sure it would just make me want to chow down more, though. ;)

Oh WOW! Linkage! :-)

I love cranberries all year 'round, myself! It's a shame it's a seasonal item here in Texas, though. I don't know if it's the same way up North... but around here, you only find the fresh berries towards the Holidays--and usually only during Thanksgiving. Otherwise you're stuck with the canned stuff.

One note, though--don't bother using corn starch at all, go with the orange Jello, and if you want a thicker sauce just double up the amount. The corn starch began to break down a few hours after I put the cranberries in the fridge. While it was still very much edible, it really looked funky!

As with all my recipes, adjust to your personal tastes--and if you do something different with them and it turns out tasty, let me know so I can try it myself! :-)
