In the book, Lazarus Long's clones were female versions of himself; twin female versions of himself.

Just snip out the Y and duplicate the X chromosome in the 23rd pair and you have a female clone of yourself. Assuming you're a guy to start with, and don't have any lethal recessives on your X chromosome.

Much more complicated to make a male clone of a female subject.
