One Step Closer

Remember a while back when I wrote about rocket racing?

Check this out. Rutan is involved, so you know they're serious.

This is gonna be mega cool if they ever get into full swing.
Speaking of rockets, did I catch a glimpse of you at the launch yesterday,Ted?I thought I saw you walking towards the launch area but it could have been someone else because it was just a quick glance.I myself didn't show up until around noon and spent a good deal of time over with Ken pondering Mopars and rockets.I did manage to get my old two 24 mm cluster Estes Impulse back in the air.I was gonna completely remove all of the fillets and redo them but after some careful examination I decided that only two of them needed it.I am still debating wether or not to completely strip it and paint it a whole new color scheme or to just paint over the old one with the same colors, silver cone and black frame.
I also managed a flight from a rocket I named Scrapyard which I pieced together from stuff that was tossed in the trash at the last launch. It had what I assume is an Estes Shuttle Express nose cone on an Estes Astrocam airframe.Nice flyer but ejection wasn't complete. No damage though.
Sadly the range closed a bit early yesterday.I had already preped my Estes Sprint clone for a run but turned around to find the range nearly dismantled.Bummer!Oh,well!More for next time.Looks like we're gonna have plenty of chances next year.I'm gonna love those two day deals, too.
