The FINAL Official L&R Top 100 Guitar Players of All Time

Rob has worked out a formula to create a composite listing of guitarists from seven different lists.

Stevie, you'll be especially happy I think.

Not bad but wheres SLASH at......... a bit far down the list near to kurk cobain, he's the don writer not guitarist.Kirk hammett's the Don guitarist and should easily be in the top 20 at LEAST and.But at least we've estabilished HENDRIX'S is the DON MEGA OF ALL TIME but then hammett should be behind him :)

ok....i think Henrix is a verry awesome guitar player i have no doubt, but i REALLYYYYY dont agree with Steve Vai being WAYY back there....steve Vai alot of ppl think that hes one of the greats, the man can play, he can play like no other that i have ever seen in my entire life, when you put him behind guys that he could he have played beter then them when he was 16 thats sad b/c manny ppl in the world that hes great. i do to , i think of all the things that he has done for the music world he should get more reconishion, GW mag just said in his last interView, steve how does it feal to be practicly at a levle where its basicly humaly imposible to play what you play, and he said if feals good lol but its sad that hes way up there buy one of his CD's or go see one of his conserts then look at all the guitarists you thought were amazing and it will make them look like like they just picked up the guitar, im not saying that the guys up at the top suck there verry good lol but i mean he surpassed them all when he was 19 playing with Frank Zappa, im just saying Vai writes thing's that we cant even grasp the consept of actuly playing it, hes truly in my eyes the best guitar player to ever lived, thats just my thoughts

I think Angus Young is at least in the top ten because who can roll around on the floor and still keep a perfect note in hand, and also who can play a ten minute solo behind his back while running around the stage?

I think that Joe Satriani is one of the top ten guitar players in the world. He can give Jon Petrucci a run for his money. I dont even like the guy, but he has talent. Just listen to him and find out. Download his wicked Instrumental song.

OK, Clapton has gotta be the greatest, Jimi could of been but for too many chemicals maybe?
Page, Beck, Allman, Eddie VH, Santana, Knoppfler, Steve Vai and Keith Richards probably round out the top 10. Angus,Iommi,Hammett and Dimebag Darrell are some other greats and Blackmore is under-rated. Is Cobain the most over-rated???

i like the list, but there are still players up there that really should'nt be. i play the guitar to a reasonable standard and i listen to others playing. there are technically amazing guitarists out there. Yngwie Malmsteen, kirk hammet to name but a few, no-ones saying there not amazing guitarists but if all you are judging it on is technical ability then there are hundereds of guitarists that should be on there. take page, frusciante and clapton for example. you probably know someone who can play lots of their stuff Zeplin, chili peppers and cream or clapton. but they are 3 of the best players who ever lived. take Yngwie Malmsteen he is a technically amazing guistarist but you may never go home have a beer and listen to it or play it. apart from to show of to your mates or to listen to one song say "thats fast" and imediately turn it off.
